We plan to make available literatures in the local Khmer language both those of the Bhaktivedanta Book Trust (BBT) and those of the Varnasrama Book Trust (VBT).

Preparing Bio Pestiside : We prepared bio pesticide for our garden, we took neem leaf extract and also we practiced making it with one farmer near our Asram. His vegetables have problem with insects. To counter this we introduced neem – leaf extract for bio pestiside.

Ingredients of the Bio- Pesticide :

  1. 1 kg neem leaf powder,
  2. 1 liter cow urine,
  3. 0.5 kg cow dung
  4. Mix with 20 liter water.

Keep it one day and we can use it as a pesticide.

Preparing Compost : We continued to make compost in our garden. We use cow dung, dry leaf and dry grass. We also collaborated with an NGO “Kroasar Tmey” to prepare Compost. “Kroasar Tmey” works for poor and orphaned children. They provide shelter, food, money and bicycle for going to school for 32 children. They have one gardener, and 7 acre land for growing vegetables. The gardeners name is Mr Veasna. He planted morning glory, pumpkin, brinjal, beans and sweet potato.  He was very interested to learn when I introduce him how to make compost, and he want to practice with me. One day, we and all the children in “Kroasar Tmey” watched composting movie and then after few days we practiced how to make compost. In the morning Mr Veasna with 5 children prepared the pit for composting. In the afternoon we collected dry leaf and put it in the pit, put water and cow dung solution, covered it by coconut leaf. I told them we need to sprinkle water and cow dung solution every day, after 25 daydmove to second pit, and again after 25 days move to third pit and after 25 day we can use.

Ceremony in Bayon Tempel

We met one good friend at in Vat Angkosa, his name is Mr Vy Andra. He invited us to join in one ceremony at Bayon Tempel. This ceremony is dedicate to Lord Brahma. He also invited some Cambodian people.
On 31 December, 11.30 a.m we go there, and stard ceremony at 2 p.m. after that more and more people come mybe aroun 50 person. Most of them still believe Lord Visnu, Brahma, and Shiwa, the old Cambodian culture. They came from Siem Reap, Campung Cham, Phnom Phen, Phnum Kulen, etc.

Mr Vy Andra started the prayers , and he told me to continue the prayers. So we did  Bhajan Maha Mantra for 40 minutes. We distributed Prabhupada book, and told them Hare Krsna Maha Mantra. They looked very interested with the book, and they read. During the break time we heard Cambodian traditional music. I needed to introduce myself to them, so Mr Sophat explained introduced us to the people present. He said they come from Indonesia, they are monks, they follow four rules, and they grow vegetables by themselves.

Before the ceremony finished we did bhajan again for around 20 minute.  Mr Vy Andra distributed the cloths and fruits. After the ceremony finished we try to talking with the guests, but some most of them speak only Khmer and mix with Sanskrit so we could only understand little. We gave them some Glovesco Cambodia card. Some of them did not get books , so they said will come to our Asram to take the book, next time.

Visiting NGO

Some NGO in Cambodia helps the poor and orphan children. They provide everything for them like Green Gecko. Green gecko helps 70 children. They provide place, food, money and bus for going to school and also English class, Computer, library, sport activity, gardening training, and meditation. They manage the center very nicely, and it looks like gurukula. Another NGO like Children Development Organization, Kroasar Tmey, Shangkum Center, Cambodian Orphans Fund, Build Future To Day. They also work in the same objective. They start from simple things like Shengkum Center at beginning only have two children, and Green Gecko only provide food for children on the street. And then they have good progress until now. Because they manage everything very well. Planning for one years, one month, and one day, organizing, administration, controlling, and evaluation. They have meeting for all the staff every one week. So that way they got a lot of donation.
