OM SURABHYAI NAMAH!

OM SRI-GURAVE NAMAH !

WELCOME

Welcome to the Octoberr edition of the ANGKOR BULLETIN. This will serve as a supplement to our website www.bhakticambodia.com. Devotees serving in the Kingdom of Cambodia would like to provide various information to our viewers to solicit their interest and participation, however that may be. We plan to make available literatures in the local Khmer language both those of the Bhaktivedanta Book Trust (BBT) and those of the Varnasrama Book Trust (VBT).
We are looking for interested persons from the Kingdom of Cambodia who can help in various activities, including translation and printing of literatures into Khmer.

Hare Krishna.

Visiting Phnom Kulen

Several days ago, we were visiting Phnom Kulen. It is located south-eastern of Angkor Wat. Phnom Kulen is a huge plateau around 50 km from Siem Reap and about 15 km from Banteay Srei. There is an inscription mentioned that in 802 King Jayavarman II declared the independence from Java and proclaimed himself as a ‘universal monarch', or ‘devaraja(god-king). It is considered by Khmers to be the most sacred mountain in Cambodia. Phnom Kulen is a popular place of pilgrimage for Khmer today.

Several place in the valley of this mountain is suitable place for meditation. Many monk go to this place to practice their meditation. Over there we met some monk and meditation practitioner and discussed about our practice of meditation. We share our experience about practicing Hare Krsna mantra meditation. We also share about our daily life style which is very simple, about our practice of vegetarianism and non intoxication, non violence etc.

We had also chance to visit the pagoda called Wat Preah Ong Chuab. There is something unique on this pagoda because people worships Brahma, Vishnu, Narayana, and Buddha as well.

In the river bed there are many relief as shown in the picture above. The relief are Garbodakasayi Vishnu and Siva Lingam. These relief had shown us that in the ancient time, the Vedic was deeply being followed by the Khmers.

Another interesting thing is the moonlike spring water, which is very secluded and very rare people know this spot.
